Giraffe A+ Program – Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on your specific needs, we offer small classes (with a max of 4 students) and private 1 to 1 classes. Please contact us to know the best approach for your kid.

Although it depends on your kid, most current students take 2 classes at Giraffe per week to allow for progression and balance with school. Students who want to learn more are suggested to take 3-4 classes per week. One class is one hour long.

Giraffe hires instructors who have recently obtained their bachelor’s degree, or who are currently in their 3rd year or above in pursuing their bachelor’s degree. Giraffe instructors are from UBC, the University of Toronto, and other prestigious universities in North America. Unless for private classes, students who are in 4-person small classes cannot select instructors.

Classes will have a max of 4 students. At the beginning of class, instructors will mark their homework and students must fix all their mistakes in the homework before moving on to new material. Our handout includes examples and exercises. Each student learns his own material. If a student has questions, the instructor is there to help. At the end of class, homework will be given out that must be done by the next class.

As long as students have certain levels of English understanding, they are encouraged to enroll in our program. We assess students’ English abilities prior to the first class to ensure that they start at a comfortable level. However, students who are far behind should consider 1 to 1 classes for dedication.

Giraffe A+ program is dedicated to BC students. The materials are carefully selected and summarized to cover all essential knowledge points from Gr. K-12 BC curriculum. Giraffe A+ program is the only program offered in greater Vancouver that focuses on forward learning. We focus on this ideology so that students can enhance self-learning skills and be prepared to take advanced courses such as AP, IB confidently. We help students go beyond what they’re learning in school in order to constantly challenge them and allow them to become active learners. Giraffe A+ Math covers the essentials of Gr K-12 BC Math curriculum. Our course materials emphasize arithmetic skills, algebraic analysis, and word problems.

Giraffe A+ English course covers the essentials of Gr K-12 BC English curriculum. It has 2 parts. The first part emphasizes reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary building. The second part emphasizes advanced reading comprehension and is writing dense.

All English courses offered at Giraffe are for academic writing only. We do not offer creative writing at this moment.

We give students assessments and monthly reports to allow you to visualize their progress.

No, fees will depend on the student’s school grade. Please contact Giraffe.

If you choose to participate in our small classes, 4 students at a max. You can always choose 1:1 or 1:2 private classes with a different rate.
