Giraffe IB Courses

Some students select the prestigious IB program in order to challenge themselves. While they enjoy the opportunities for personal improvement, the level of difficulty, the amount of homework, and the various types of assignments from the IB program are extra problems that students must overcome.

Students and parents both realize the “freedom” side of BC’s education system. While students are only given minimal homework, they are unlikely to come into contact with advanced knowledge at school. Since the IB courses are significantly more difficult than regular courses offered at secondary schools in BC, students usually feel powerless when facing challenges from their assignments, projects, lab reports, and internal assessments.

In response to this scenario, Giraffe Learning designed the following IB courses.

Although we do not have admission requirements on these IB courses, students are highly recommended to complete the Pre-IB program at Giraffe Learning Centre in order to be prepared.

Why Giraffe?

  1. We have Award Winning Instructors teaching these courses.
  2. We offer small classes, with a maximum number of 4 students per class. If you prefer private sessions, please contact us for details.
  3. We adopt modular learning strategies that divide knowledge into different, standardized sections. We offer exercises and worksheets at the end of each class.
  4. We offer classes in accordance with students’ progress at school in order to improve their school performance.
  5. During class sessions, we can offer support on students’ assignments, projects, lab reports, internal assessments, presentations, and exam preparation.

Students who participate in our IB courses for a minimum duration of 6 months are eligible to register for Giraffe IB Exam Preparation Sessions on March and April of their examination year.

The Giraffe IB Learning Method

Our Giraffe Learning Method combines active reading, active teaching, and in-class training.

Active reading – At the beginning of each lesson, our instructors specify the target learning outcomes of that class. Students will actively read through course handouts according to our instructions. They will also try to answer questions related to corresponding learning outcomes.

Active teaching – During the active reading stage, our instructors observe the progress of  students in order to find their personal weakness and problems in their understanding. We will guide students through these difficulties so that they can achieve their learning outcomes.

In-class training – We will provide in-class exercises for students to practice with the new knowledge learned at each class. We will help them with their independent thinking and will provide them strategies on personal improvements.
