Giraffe Performance Boosters – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the learning model at your Performance Booster programs? Do you offer small classroom learning sessions, or do you offer private classes?

We understand that having good performance results at this stage helps your children enhance their university application profiles. While both the small classroom and the private learning modules are available at Giraffe, we will include these factors into consideration – your children’s existing learning capabilities, their current in-school performance, your desired performance results, and your required turnaround period.

For students who have studied at Giraffe Learning with adequate learning skills such as time management and self-discipline, they may participate in the Giraffe Performance Booster programs with our small classroom sessions.

However, for students requiring more dedication and focused learning, or for students who have short turnaround time, we strongly recommend them to participate in our private sessions.

2. What is the AP curriculum? Do I have to take AP exams?

AP is the abbreviation of Advanced Placement that has a higher level of difficulty compared to regular grade 11 and 12 courses in the BC curriculum. Students who are decisive to participate in the AP program must have better academic foundations, better learning skills, and stronger self-motivation. We are a tutoring centre for AP courses, so students need to enroll in the exams by themselves.

Whether or not to participate in the AP exams is a strategic question. Students who successfully complete the AP exams with excellent performances enjoy an enhanced personal profile. However, students who perform poorly on the AP exams waste their time and effort without observing any results. To find if AP exams are suitable for your children, please visit our Giraffe Forward Planning program for more details.

3. When do your AP courses start? Do you register AP exams on our behalf?

For our small classroom sessions, our relevant AP courses usually start in September or October of each year. Students will participate in the corresponding AP exams in the following year. However, as a learning centre, Giraffe Learning only offers tutoring sessions and exam preparation sessions. Students must register their AP exams by themselves.

For students who want more focused or more dedicated learning experience, they should consider Giraffe Learning’s private learning sessions. Our private classes have more flexible schedules as well.

4. I am taking AP courses at school. Can I participate in your AP Exam Prep sessions?

They can certainly participate in our AP Exam Preparation sessions hosted in March and April each year. We will simulate the exam environment so that students can have full length, timed practices. By practicing mock and practice exams, students can notice their areas of improvement so that they can constantly correct their mistakes in order to achieve optimal results in the real exams.

5. What is the IB curriculum? Do I have to take IB courses?

IB is the abbreviation of International Baccalaureate that has a higher level of difficulty compared to regular grade 11 and 12 courses in the BC curriculum. Students who are decisive to participate in the IB program must have better academic foundations, better learning skills, and stronger self-motivation. We are a tutoring centre for IB courses, so students need to enroll in the IB program at their high schools.

Whether or not to participate in the IB program is a strategic question. Students who successfully complete the IB courses with excellent performances enjoy an enhanced personal profile. However, students who perform poorly on the IB exams waste their time and effort without observing any results. To find if the IB program is suitable for your children, please visit our Giraffe Forward Planning program for more details.

6. Do you offer IB Exam Prep?
